At Best Designer Handbag Deals we try to find you the best value designer bag deals that are out there and tell you about them. The best deal does not necessarily mean the cheapest although obviously price is important. Value is the key not price. We may source a designer bag hundreds of dollars below normal retail that is still quite expensive. The fact that you can purchase an authentic bag at a considerable discount is the value even though it will probably cost you several hundred or even thousands of dollars. You may also find value because you can’t purchase particular brands or models through normal retail where you live.
So why are the prices reduced? Simple really. Having paid the cost of manufacture, distribution and storage for a product line, it needs to move so the manufacturer doesn’t suffer from the bad cash flow and associated financing costs. All businesses need to turn over product and move slow moving items or clear the shelves of the last few. It costs money to have stock sitting on a shelf and limits options to bring in new items. In most instances there is absolutely nothing wrong with the items on sale; it’s simply cheaper to reduce the price and move on than pay for the storage.
At Best Designer Handbag Deals we will never knowingly promote an item that is not authentic. In other words, regardless of the supposed “deal”, no knock-offs purporting to be authentic.
If you’ve looked around this site a bit, you’ll note that I often use items listed on Amazon. Some people turn their nose up at this but I make no apologies. There’s a reason that Amazon attracts a very high proportion of online sales – they have a great range, they’re legit and provide great customer service. Yes I know that there can be issues shipping outside the US but those items are clearly marked and usually come from items supplied or sponsored by third parties. There are also various options for using third party re-shippers to get around this …. but take care. The reviews on some of these are pretty mixed. I suggest that before you use one of these services you check them out on the Better Business Bureau or through ResellerRatings. For my money, using Amazon’s shipping service is worth it for the ease of use and the near certainty that the item(s) will actually get delivered. Shipping internationally is an area where you get what you pay for.
One of the best ways of getting a bargain is to search out second hand items. The euphemisms are “pre-owned” or “previously loved” but the bottom line is that they’re bags that somebody doesn’t want anymore which you might like. For whatever reason, sometimes we all have stuff we no longer want or need. Often there’s nothing wrong with them. Frequently they are advertised as “as new” and that does take some checking but we’ve all had an unwanted present or we’ve bought something on an impulse which, in the cold light of day, was a mistake.
Retailers also provide some good options and we will frequently feature these deals in our newsletters. If something gets damaged during shipping or is otherwise returned to them, they can’t sell it as new because it isn’t. Once repaired or returned these items are offered as “near new” usually at a substantial discount. Often while not new they have never actually been used or even opened. Nirvana is an item that has some packaging damage but is otherwise completely pristine.
The problem with all this is that it often takes a bit of effort to find what you are looking for because of their very nature the range and availability will be limited. Still it’s worth a look and, provided you accept that you don’t have to buy every time you do look, bargains can be found.
End of Run
As discussed above, once a supplier or retailer is down to the last few dozen of an item, it isn’t worth it to keep them on the shelf. It’s costing them money and they need to space for newer (and more expensive / profitable) stock. Therefore they offer these end of run items at a discount or often sell them in bulk to a re-seller. Even after buying them up, that re-seller can offer them to you are at a significant discount to the original price. Of course you need to do a little checking because there will be the odd re-seller that jacks up the price because they are the only one with stock. This comes back to considering what any item is worth to you. Try not to be too caught up in the process. In this instance cynicism is a good thing. If it is truly something you want and the price is right, fine! That’s value to you. If not, don’t buy it.
Although better than with pre-owned items, end of run offers will typically have fairly limited number and will not last long. So you’ll have to be reasonably quick – but not impulsive right! Most sites will provide some indication of the number left for sale which can give you a bit of time to check out other offers. The good thing about all this is that if you miss out on a particular item then another offer will pop up within a few days for a potentially better and cheaper deal. Shop smart.
How do you find offers?
You can spend the time and energy yourself to search the web, blogs and fashion sites for sales and other deals mentioned above and you will find some good stuff. If you’ve got the time and enjoy it, go ahead. However, most people lead busy lives so it makes sense to start with a steer in the right direction. That’s where we come in. We’ve done most of the hard work for you so you can take some of the suggestions we make and if they’re not exactly what you are after, refine the search until you find your perfect match. You could start with the current Lux Lair designer bags on sale or Amazon’s current reduced price offers here.
We provide a subscription service which will send you periodic notifications of “specials”, clearance sales and limited time end of run offers. Many of these offers have limited numbers of bags available so it’s a case of snooze and you lose. For that reason I will be sending notifications to our subscriber list before making the offer generally available on this website or through our blog.
To take advantage of this service use the Early Bird Notification link on the right or click here to go directly to the sign up page. We won’t be spamming you but we will try to give you an early warning of new, limited offers as they come out.
Authentic designer second hand
I am currently in discussion with a re-seller of second hand name brand handbags and purses. They provide provenance and authentication guarantees. By its very nature their offerings are one offs or very, very limited in numbers and will tend to be at the top end of the market. I’m also trying to confirm that they will accept advance orders for specific makes and designs. This may well suit collectors and those looking to invest in the very best designer bags.
Once I understand the facts, I’ll provide a review of their service in another blog and notify subscribers of their stock as they become available.
Thanks for reading this far. I hope we’ve provided you some insights and thoughts on how to find value, get a good deal and generally find what you are looking for at a good price. If you are an experienced online shopper much of this may not be new to you but the advantage is that by using some of our ideas and referrals as a start point you can save some time and perhaps find a perspective which opens up new options for you. If we can stitch it together the designer second hand offering is particularly exciting.
